AGA Centenary

This year marks one hundred years since the Arundel Gardens Association was formed. Our former chairman, Bob Tanner, has researched the history of the association from 1925. How gardening times have changed!

“The Duchess and I are pleased to send warm congratulations to members of Arundel’s Gardens Association in this, its centenary year. We know there has been a close relationship between the Association and my family since its inception in 1925 and we are pleased that your President, Martin Duncan, continues that relationship with the Castle today.

We look forward to meeting many of your members at the celebratory Garden Party in the Collector Earl’s Garden next July and meanwhile, we hope your members enjoy the other events planned in your centenary year’s programme.”  His Grace the Duke of Norfolk

Centenary Events

To mark our centenary, we are holding two special events in addition to our regular programme of talks:

Thursday 29 May: A “Gardeners Question Time” event at Denmans Garden. See the GQT Event page for details.

Friday 18 July: An evening Garden Party, kindly hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Norfolk, at the Collector Earl’s Garden, Arundel Castle. See the Garden Party page for details.

Arundel Museum Exhibition

Between March and November, Arundel Museum will be holding an exhibition on the History of Arundel Castle Gardens. This will display the history and changes that have been made to the Castle gardens since Victorian times.

Wednesday 7 May: Talk by our President, Martin Duncan, Head Gardener at Arundel Castle Gardens on the transformations he has made to the gardens since his arrival in 2009.
Please book at the museum, email office@arundelmuseum.org or call 01903 885866.

In the museum foyer, look out for the AGA Centenary display case with gardening artefacts and early publications from the association. With thanks to Sue Marsh, Oliver and Diana Hawkins.
